Guests wishing to enjoy Riga's history will love staying in this historical hotel, which occupies a hostel that first opened its doors to guests in 1435. Renovated in 2005, this hotel has a total of 11 rooms over 3 floors and is named after a former mayor of Riga, Nikolaus Eke. Eke set up a guesthouse at the end of the 16th century for widows of the city's craftsmen who were then accommodated here for more than 300 years. The building has retained its impressive vaults, ancient façade and original walls. The lobby offers a 24-hour reception and a hotel safe. Room and laundry services are also available.
The elegant rooms have an en suite bathroom with hairdryer, satellite TV, free wireless Internet access, a double bed and central heating. The furniture is modelled on historical furnishings and the rooms are decorated with ancient maps, original drawings and hand-woven blankets. Each of the 11 rooms affords its own unique design. A number of the rooms are understandably small, owing to the building dating back to the 15th century.
The nearest golf course lies about 6 kilometres from the hotel.
A fabulous breakfast buffet is on offer in a nearby restaurant.
