The Canada Hotel is a real find. Not because of any luxuries it might offer, but because of its price and its location, right in the heart of Venice and exactly midway between the Rialto Bridge and the Piazza San Marco. Overlooking San Lio, one of Venice's many historical squares ('Campielli'), the 2-star Canada Hotel was once a typical Venetian home. Nowadays it offers a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere, combined with a helpful and personal service, and one of Venice's most sought-after locations. Guests staying at the Canada should note that the hotel has no elevator, but it does offer a great place from which to explore and discover this most fascinating of European cities. Guests should note that local city tax is not included in the rate booked. This will be charged directly to guests by the hotel and payable at check in.

    They charge extra Tax

    The location is in a good place. Venice city centre is just 5-15 mins walk away. They clean your room everyday and you can leave the luggage with them after check-out and collect at a later time.
    However, on checkout they asked us to pay Tax. The usual tax amount is €2 per person, p/night. However, they charged us €6 per person, p/night. And they gave us no receipt. I was not aware of the tax rule at the time. Hence, I couldn't say anything. But those of you going next be aware of this type of scam.
