What do guests think about this lodging establishment?

The Leonardo hotel received mixed reviews from guests. Some mentioned issues with parking, stating that there was no drop-off point at the front of the premises and that the underground car park was confusing and had a broken lift. Others found the rooms to be comfortable and spacious, although some experienced difficulties with the air conditioning and noise from outside. Several guests were disappointed with the slow service at the bar, with long queues and delays in ordering food and drinks. However, many appreciated the convenient location, friendly staff, and clean facilities. Overall, while there were some areas for improvement, the hotel was praised for its comfortable rooms and helpful staff.

The first thing that causes a problem at the Leonardo hotel is that there is no drop off point at the front of the premises. Instead you have to find your way around to the rear and into an underground car park which belongs to a nearby bingo club. Once a parking space is found you need to pay £12 for 24 hours. Having found your way out of the car park, which is a maze with a broken down lift, you discover that there are no signs to lead you to the rear entrance of the hotel. Lucky for us a local lady showed us the way.
Once inside check in was quick and we were presented with a voucher for a free drink as we were celebrating an anniversary, of which more later. We were advised that if we wished to take breakfast, it would be £12-50 each. We did not indulge as we got two very filling breakfasts form the nearby Wetherspoons for virtually the same amount.
On entering our room 709, the first thing to be seen was a large mark of something unpleasant, some 2 inches by 3 inches ,that had been trodden into the centre of the carpet at the end of the hallway. The room was of adequate size for the two of us and the bed was large and comfortable. The room was very hot due to the prevailing weather but nothing I could do with the air conditioning control would lower the room temperature below 19C.
Owing to the heat, we had to open the two small windows. This led to a disturbed night due to the traffic noise from the street. Opening the windows also revealed a wide gutter outside which contained assorted rubbish and many weeds. Also the security cable on the lower window was not locked as I found when I accidentally pressed the locking button and the cable popped out leaving the window free to open fully.
The bathroom had the facilities one would expect, but with the following faults; the water pressure at the hand basin was no more than a dribble from the centre mounted mixer tap and after cleaning ones teeth a glass or two of water had to be used to swill out the basin. Beside the basin there should have been two glass shelves. The lower shelf was missing but the fittings had ben left on the wall with the shelf mounting screws sticking out of the top. The toilet paper supplied was the cheapest and thinnest I have ever come across in all of the many places and countries that I have stayed in. Absolutely horrible and unpleasant to use.
On our last evening we decided to use the voucher, (mentioned earlier), that we were given by the reception clerk on checking in as we mentioned that we were celebrating the one year anniversary of our meeting. Imagine our surprise when we presented it at the bar only to be told by a clearly embarrased young lady that, "this is only for one drink". We asked if we were supposed to share the drink and the girl said she would check with reception. After a few minutes she returned and said, "it's ok, he's changed it to two.
To close, I would say that the few staff that we were in contact with were pleasant and efficient. As for the hotel itself, I personally don't think it merits four stars and I won't be staying there again. Nor will I recommend it to anyone I know.
